Who knew?

We joined the small band of Community weeders for the second Sunday in a row. The organiser was keen for us to get as far as the Gentleman’s club. Not knowing which building he was referring to, I enquired and now I know. It’s a gentleman’s reading room opened in 1894 and is adjacent to the wall where Millais painted the painting of Walter Raleigh. We found the door by accident this afternoon as we were sheltering from a shower again. Unfortunately, we didn’t quite make it to the the club this morning mainly I expect because we went off piste with the secateurs and did some trimming of some dead foliage actually on the beach.
