Dear Heart

There's this trend among people I know to hate New Year's. I think everyone just associates it with failure and self-loathing, a time when you resurrect your old insecurities and decide that this, this will be the year when you change forever. And then you don't.
I don't see it that way. I love it. I'm the same with Valentine's Day, which everyone supposedly loathes because it commercialises something pure and personal. I'm not one for kissing under the glitter ball or teddy bears with red hearts stamped on them, but I love these days. Love and self-reflection should be daily things, yes, but isn't it nice that a day is set aside each year to dedicate to these things?
That's what I think, anyway. Tilly and I danced the Macarena to see out the New Year - I can only apologise for the madness.
