Matheson Bay Rock Pools

Just a quick note today, as one of my Hamilton cousins is up visiting. We went today to Goat Island Marine Preserve at Leigh, and the kids enjoyed looking around the Leigh Marine Discovery Centre run by the University of Auckland: checking out fish and crustaceans and molluscs and such.

We then went down to scope out some actual rock pools, but the tide wasn't yet low enough. Thus we headed at the Marine Centre staff's recommendation, to Matheson Bay. That was gorgeous, and we had some more luck. Here Miss 7 (whose fascination with rock pools was the driver for the whole endeavour), supported by waipushrink, is looking at some hermit crabs being pointed out by her granny.

Large here.
