Spider's Web

Spiders' webs blow my mind. I think all pre programmed functions in brains are amazing as is the ability to learn. Humans are born knowing all sorts of things like how to breathe, cough, blink etc. all at an unconscious level. However, anything organised generally has to be taught and anything complex requires some level of conscious effort. Spiders on the other hand come pre programmed with an ability to produce a feat of engineering like this to enable them to eat. Are spiders conscious of what they are doing? Or is it literally just as mindless as a human baby sucking? What is consciousness?
