All white now......

.......baby it's all white now.......the firstborn picked up a fantastic bargain in a charity shop last week, a rather lovely fine lawn and broderie anglaise christening gown for a mere £1.50 and I've been tasked with converting it into an overskirt for the granddaughter (she's into vintage fabrics and 'layering', so basically she's reliving the Hippy dream.....y'know, when she's not doing full-on Goth ;-) ).
Some disassembly and remedial works completed at Make, Do and Mend this morning (fitted in between all the mandatory gossiping and coffee slurping/biscuit crunching of course!)
But now it needs a gentle wash and an iron before I start on phase 2......and that might have to wait until next Wednesday because MY sewing machine is currently buried behind a wall (that the Donald would be jealous of!) of storage boxes in the family archive facility (fondly remembered as the back bedroom!)
EDIT :: Initially I had a bit of a (mental/verging on the ethical) problem with all the dismantling and repurposing business, but as the firstborn said 'it was in a charity shop Mum, I don't know the history, better it makes new memories than it just ends up forgotten in a box' (or words to that effect)......she has a point.......

In other news :: I was spoilt for choice on the bargain bench at the veggie shop this morning.....large punnet of strawberries, a ripe pineapple, large bunch of coriander, broccoli and a huge lettuce, total cost £1.50......the firstborn isn't the only one who likes a bargain ;-)
