What struck my fancy

Chilean flamingo

At the Amazona Zoo, Cromer north Norfolk UK. The trouble with photographing at a zoo is the sense of captivity from the fencing, other man-made paraphernalia, and the spectators. This flamingo and its out of shot companions occupy a dark pond and really stood out from their background showing off their brilliant pink plumage.

Mating is encouraged by them being in a large group, larger than the number at the zoo, mirrors placed around the edge of the pond create the illusion that the group is larger and mating ensues. Interesting.
