A tree with history (widwed210819)

This weeks wide Wednesday theme is an interesting tree.  I used to pass this one on my way home from work, but shortly after I retired something drastic happened to it which resulted in several of the branches falling away.  Much of the fallen wood is still stacked around the trunk. 

There was not the light in the sky I was hoping for, so I have gone for a mono conversion which I think brings out the structure of the bark etc.
There is also what looks like a Kestrel sitting on the top :-)

Colour version in the extras along with a couple from our day trip to Birmingham.  We went to the the RBSA gallery (Royal Birmingham Society of the Arts) as one of Gill's family has a portrait in their current exhibition. Well worth seeing, although it closes on the 31st.

After that we walked to the Pen museum and on to the Jewellery Quarter museum.  Both are quite fascinating - one extra is of the buildings opposite the gallery, it give an idea of how the area has been redeveloped,  a restaurant with multiple flower baskets, next to a car park and some modern office buildings.  The other is the Pen museum. We even managed to fit in a ride on the tram back to the station - although one of the joints was exceptionaly noisy making conversation difficult :-)
