The Old Forge (Friday 23rd August 2019)

A new gladioli on the driveway patch for Flower Friday. Thanks to BikerBear for hosting.

The Extra shows how opening up the corner of the garden has not only let light into the woodland garden, but also brought the patio area into the garden. The area is still a work in progress of course.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Grateful Dead - I Washed My Hands In Muddy Water (recorded live, 5 December 1971, Felt Forum, Madison Square Garden, New York NY, for WNEW-FM)
Cowboy Joe Babcock wrote this for Stonewall Jackson in 1964 and it was later recorded by Elvis Presley for his album Elvis Country in 1970.
I knew the song from the Spencer Davis Group's Second Album (1966), when it was sung by Spencer Davis.
The Grateful Dead only ever performed this song one time, and it was broadcast on a local radio station in New York for a show that eventually turned up on a cheap-as-chips 21 CD set from 2017 called '71 Dead, which I am playing my way through, reaching Disc 13 with this song on it this morning. Apparently it happened spontaneously when Phil Lesh's bass guitar batteries suddenly failed.
