Between fen and mountains

We were a little late arriving for the parish meal. The visitors wanted to ring a quater peal and so we obliged. It almost collapsed when two of the congregation came into the ringing chamber walking amongst us and discussing the removal of a radiator! I think they did not appreciate how much concentration it requires to keep the method on track. The meal was very pleasant and I got back just in time to watch the thrilling conclusion of the Test match. I then wandered over to the church where there was a concert with an accordionist and an operatic singer. I caught the second half of the performance which was excellent and afterwards discussed various activities the French are organising for the two day festival at the end of September. There will now be around 30 villagers dressed in period costume who will be perambulating at various of the weekend’s events.
