Brighton Beach

I wanted go into Brighton today as it's the annual Mod Weekender where mods come down to Brighton from every part of the country and gather on Madeira Drive with their Vespas.  Also it's 40 years since the film Quadrophenia and there was a reunion party at one of the bars on the pier for the cast of the film, so we thought it would be interesting to go and see if we could see anyone famous.

We decided to walk from Saltdean along the undercliff walk all the way to the pier, and although it was 27 degrees there was a lovely sea breeze again, so it was quite pleasant.  When we got to Madeira Drive there were so many Vespas, probably more than any other year that we've been, but I guess that's down to the weather.  I took lots of photos and then we went onto the pier but we didn't see any actors.

Everywhere was really busy and the beach was packed, but then it always is when the weather's good and particularly on a bank holiday weekend.  We headed back, stopping at the marina where we had a pint of shandy and then carried on to Saltdean where it was much more relaxed and the beach was nice and quiet.  It's not at all touristy at our end which is why we like living here - we can go into Brighton if we want to, but can enjoy the peace and quiet if we don't.

We walked 11 miles in total and once home I got in the hot tub and then we just chilled out in the garden.  I'd put lamb shanks in the slow cooker this morning, so dinner was nice and easy.
