My favourite shoes

I bought these shoes twenty years ago for a business trip to Moscow in the winter.

They immediately became my favourite shoes, and (as the blip shows) have been worn to death. Both soles have huge cracks which let in water, and even just cold air, and my toes are nearly sticking through the uppers. But I can't find anything nearly so comfortable and just can't bring myself to throw them out.

At least it gives out the message that I'm not a fashion victim.
