Life's Little Moments

American Lady

I don't remember having so many American Ladies in recent years as what I'm seeing this summer.  They look very similar to Painted Ladies (which are familiar to so many of you all over the world) but are larger and have four distinctive spots on the hind wing.  In a fresh specimen, like this one, the wing spots show a dark blueish-purple color which is quite beautiful.  For comparison, I'll put a Painted Lady (also from today) in Extra.

Also in the garden today were hummers, bees, and a lovely assortment of butterflies, including two big Red-spotted Admirals, one of my favorite butterflies.  You can see the showy Admiral HERE and one of the hummingbirds right after it on Flickr.

In truth, it hasn't been a great day.  I think the uncertainty in terms of Hub's job and MIL's residence caught up with both of us today.  But tomorrow is another day and probably a better one.  And, I have booked us to go away for a couple of days for our anniversary next week - we'll be taking the motor home to what looks to be a very nice campground with loads of amenities.  In the meantime, one foot in front of the other, marching forward.

Thanks for all the love on yesterday's monarch chrysalis.  Two more emerged today - a male and female.  More coming.

And thanks to Nickimags888 for hosting TinyTuesday this month!
