Madonna of the Bass Rock by John Bellany

Seen at the Royal Infirmary where I got a step further towards an operation to stop my hip dislocating again.

The information for this picture is as follows:

John Bellany CBE (1942-2013) is recognised as one of the one of the most influential post-war Scottish artists. Born into a family of fishermen and boat-builders in Port Seton, and coming to prominence in the late 1960s with allergorical pieces depicting fishing communities, life by the coast has long influenced his work. This watercolour depicts the Bass Rock off the coast of North Berwick which showcases the artist's vigorous approach to figurative art.
