Flower Friday . . . Tree Lucerne

Day 30 . . . Break The Rules

Tree lucerne, also known as tagasaste (Chamaecytisus palmensis), is a giant tree broom from the windswept Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean.  It grows very fast in NZ and flowers in late winter when other nectar sources are few.  It was windy this morning and the bumble bees and honey bees were not staying still for very long on the lucerne flowers.  I almost gave up when this monarch flew in and stayed for rather a long time.  I am assuming this male has over wintered.
As for the challenge I have read it is more interesting to not put the subject in the centre so I have broken that rule and this butterfly is in the middle surrounded by the white flowers.
Happy weekend all.
