Hops and the vine

Met up with friends for a wonderful lunch at Squerrys Winery.

The winery and vineyard is adjacent to Westerham Brewery, where we often go and I have long wanted to visit it.

Today the sun shone but we decided to eat in their newly opened restaurant. They have a great choice of tapas dishes, freshly prepared by the chef and each dish a work of art.

Squerrys only produce a sparkling wine made with the same grapes as champagne i.e. chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier, and is made by the traditional champagne method.
I had two glasses of the 2014 vintage and it was amazing and as good as any champagne I have tasted.

The staff working there are very welcoming, knowledgable and helpful. The chef came into the restaurant to ask our opinion of the dishes. We were pleased to tell him how much we enjoyed the whole lunch time experience.

We sat outside on the terrace with our coffee, admiring the beautiful view of the vineyards.

Somehow I felt very emotional . I have long wanted to visit Squerrys for their lunchtime tapas, and at last have been able to. It's another big milestone for me especially drinking two glasses of wine , with, at the moment no adverse side effects. As from tomorrow the round of hospital outpatient visits recommence. My blips will not be as varied over the next week.
