Golf hazard

2-foot long Maryland snapping turtle, spotted moseying off the greens of the 9th hole. It stood still long enough to let the golfing party hole their balls :)

There are about 5 or 6 of those mature ones “in residence” on the golf course. At this time of the year, they come out of the water to feed on the pears that fall from nearby trees. Prehistoric looking and jaws strong enough to snap a finger clear off!
