Day 10 Ston to Dubrovnik, 35 miles.

Day 10
Ston to Dubrovnik, 35 miles. Today we had to choose mad traffic or mad hills. We chose the latter and didn't regret it, the views were fabulous. We had two massive climbs up to 370m down to sea level, where we stocked up on less stodgy cheese pastries, strudel and most importantly water, we also had a coffee by the waters edge. A quick loo stop, it makes me giggle that a lot of the public toilets don’t have locks, certainly makes you pee quick. Then back to 410m in the usual 33 degrees we have come to expect. So pleased we had the extra water, we got through 4 water bottles each.

A hills were manageable but there was a huge blip on the map, yup it was huge and at the top there was a gravel track. I had to get off and walk it was too rough for me but I just laughed and got on. Luckily there was a handy bench where the track met the tarmac road so Mr PB could have a seats whilst he waited for me.

Eventually we had to join the crazy traffic for the last few miles into Dubrovnik over the bridge.

Lovely apartment apart from a disagreement with our landlady who expected me to lock the bikes up on the street. Needless to say we won the argument and Mr PB carried both bikes down the steps to the yard.
We've had a short trip around the old town and stocked up on food. Dinner and Croatian wine awaits. Tomorrow we have a day off the bikes (what?!) to see the sites.
