Fort Rosecrans Cemetery

We returned to Pt. Loma at a time closer to low tide so we could view the tide pools. A big disappointment as there was only a single tide pool in view. What was not a disappointment, however, was the Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. This stunning cemetery has amazing views of both downtown San Diego and the Pacific Ocean as it straddles the hilltop drive leading to and from Cabrillo National Monument. According to the Wikipedia page, there are 101, 079 graves, many of which can be seen in the photo above, and this site was registered as a California Historical Landmark on December 6, 1932 and added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 2016.
