Superbugs

This strikingly colourful shield bug is a final instar nymph of the Southern Green Shieldbug... which means it’s going to lose all these bright glossy paints and become plain green. How unusual that the adult should be camouflaged and the offspring brightly coloured!

J&P’s semi-wild garden is a wondrous place for bugs, butterflies, other insects and spiders. Blip heaven! It did rain a little bit this afternoon though.
