Wet day

We had to look after Lucie today and it was wet, cool with low cloud , a day for staying dry really. We took her to the Haverthwaite/Lakeside steam railway, which was fun, especially for us. We both remember when steam trains were everyday and Diesel engines were the future!
At Lakeside station we went to the Lakes Aquarium where we saw some otters and lots of fish and insects. Lucie loved it. See LooseCanon’s Blip.

From there we took the boat to Bowness on Windermere. We ate some lunch after a tricky negotiation with Lucie in which we agreed she could have an ice cream after a more nutritious sandwich.
We bought her a whirly shiny wiggly thing on a stick after talking her out of a fluffy pink dinosaur. There was a danger of a tantrum and a no-deal for a few tricky minutes but reason prevailed.
The return journey was pretty tiring for all of us I think. We got in just before Mummy and Tom, who in the eight days since we last saw him has learned to walk!
Uh oh. He can get into twice as much mischief in half the time. The scampage quotient has risen dramatically.
It was a lovely couple of days, hard work but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
We came home tonight with no travel problems. A good time to travel.
