For non-Scottish Blipfriends

Scotland's Legal system has many differences from what prevails south of the border.    We have no inquests, no coroners (procurators fiscal the Scottish equivalents have different powers).  We have differences in the drink-driving limits, and a different conveyancing system.   We have juries of 15 people.

And strangely (since Scots have a reputation, probably overblown, for enjoying a tipple), our licensing laws are very different.   Apart from having a law on the minimum pricing of alcohol, we also have strict regulations on when alcohol can be sold.    10 am till 10 pm in shops, stores and supermarkets.

Not only are shelves covered or fenced off, but the check out tills won't accept alcohol purchases outside hours.
