Dwight D Eisenhower

I was lunching at a restaurant with a splendid view across the water when I saw this steam locomotive miles away.

Whipped open the camera case, changed lenses and bang took three shots through the large plate glass window.

On looking at the photo in camera, my steam train enthusiast dining companion said, "Oh that is an A4 locomotive"

It is indeed and further research shows it to be. 60008 Dwight D Eisenhower an LNER Class A4 stream locomotive named after the United States General.

Built for the London & North Eastern Railway in 1937, this locomotive was originally numbered 4496 and named Golden Shuttle. It was renamed Dwight D Eisenhower after World War II.
