Remembering the fallen

We took Pepper for a lovely long walk on North Walney Island. It looked like the only part of Cumbria that was in full sunshine, but there was a gale blowing Pepper’s ears about!
On the way back to the car we came across this amazing gate embellished with little birds dressed in camouflage. It is a memorial to the soldiers who trained for the two world wars in this area, now the North Walney National Nature Reserve. It’s certainly very unusual and thankfully seems to be unmolested by some of the less desirable users of the area.
