Islington Boat Club - Regents Canal

I used to be a member of the boat club, many years ago! You can just make out the tiny boats in the distance. We had canoes and the little rowing boats in the photo. Over the years the boat club has switched sides of the bank, at the moment it is on the original side!

I am still stunned at how much this part of Islington has changed. The canal was so dirty and really an isolated place. Now you can get run over easily by Boris Bikes, or Joggers! The youth club my mum worked at had a Narrow Boat and we would take advantage of it being empty on the weekends. Fishing for sticklebacks, and going up and down the Regents Canal, through Camden. Getting to Broxbourne so we could moor for the night. The swimming pool had warm showers! Today there must have been at least 20 different narrow boats moored, have never seen it so busy.

Have changed the colour slightly as it was all very grey and the sky was so white it looked, well plain!

PS The Shard is in the background, the apartments start at £30 million apparently!! I will have two thanks!!!!!!!!!!
