The Hitting Starts

Gone are the fun days of wearing flags around your waist, and of not wearing any pads. Now, it's pads and helmets, and blocking and tackling.

Our team was ahead 12-6 with one minute left. ONE MINUTE LEFT! The other team had the ball, and it was 4th down. Their running back fumbled the pitch-back, and we had 4-5 guys ready to pounce on him. Game over, huh?

But nooooo...the kid picked up the ball, skirted around the end, and ran 45 yards for the tying touchdown. NO NO NO! We went into overtime...they scored...and we didn't. Game over.

Merrick played pretty well, until tweaking his knee while being blocked into the artificial turf in the last quarter. (I think he is fine.)

Lisa and I are boarding a train in the morning, heading for Washington state. I'm not sure what to expect about posting a picture, so I may be around...or not. We'll be gone a day short of 2 weeks.
