The dog statue

I've arrived in Lake Tekapo, in the central South Island. My plan was to stay two nights, but I knew the moment I rolled in that it was going to have to be longer. It is beautiful here.

This is the dog statue of Lake Tekapo. The plaque beneath it reads:

This monument was erected by the runholders of the MacKenzie County and those who also appreciate the value of the Collie Dog, without the help of which the grazing of this mountain country would be impossible. Unveiled on March 7th 1968

I've been hearing about this monument for a while now. And now, here it is, in all its commemorative canine glory.
