Škofja Loka

Škofja Loka (Bishop’s Meadow) is a medieval town in the foothills of the Julian Alps.  It is on the UNESCO List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity as it holds a Passion Play every five years. This small town is home to many creative people who are involved in arts, crafts and music.

There is a picturesque castle on one side of the river valley and on the other side is its attractive church which is at the heart of the play.  Having crossed the river by the Devil’s Bridge you walk up the hill to the church passing the twelve stations of the cross.

It is one of those places where you capture a beautiful view only to turn the corner to find another even more breathtaking scene.

Today we were blessed as the sun shone brightly all day long.

The extras show the beauty of this little town.
