A Very Galling Sight

I usually encounter the robin's pincushion gall (rose bedeguar gall) around 3 times a year. Today though, I saw 5 different rose bushes bearing such galls.

Maybe this is just a function of weather/climate favouring the gall wasp responsible but I rather think it was today's weather that highlighted them for me. Earlier light rain had loaded the galls with beads of water and the newly emerged sunlight picked them out as glittering jewels that could not be ignored.
