Traditional boat building

We shortly leave Wivenhoe for home. It's been a marvellous two days. So many photo opportunities! We went for a walk before breakfast and saw the doors ajar at the Nottage Maritime Institute. This is a charitable trust set up in 1896 with it's home in Wivenhoe.

The Nottage teaches traditional boat building and maritime skills. The boats built here (mostly dinghys) take about 450 hours to complete. Each boat is totally hand crafted by the amateur boat builders who are there to learn the skills. There is a waiting list of about 5 years to build a boat!!

I will reply to comments on yesterday's and today's comments as soon as we arrive home this afternoon.
