1856 Vintage

The Murphy's Hotel was constructed in 1856 - for those of you in Europe, this is hardly worth mentioning in terms of age, but for the US, this is a quite old building that remains standing. They have an active bar scene in the evenings, and, fortunately, the rooms in the hotel have been updated since the 1850s. Murphys is one of the towns in California established as a part of the great gold rush. The brothers Murphy who started it, came to California on one of the first wagon trains to cross the Sierra. They mined gold for awhile and then started a hardware store business. I suspect for most miners, selling stuff to miners was far more profitable than mining itself.
