The dentist.

It has taken 4 year's to get my biggest wildling in the dentist chair.
When he first started going to the dentist he would lie outside on the concrete in the fetal position and just have a meltdown. The anxiety and the fact he didn't know what would happen was just crippling for him. He would go into a meltdown and it was just so hard to watch.
When a child is in a autistic meltdown, there is nothing that you can do for them. The best thing is to assure then that they're going to be ok and stand back.
This dental practice is amazing for him. At first the receptionist that use to work there would just stand beside him, then at his next appointment she managed to get him in the waiting room and would just play with a fidget spinner with him. And so this progressed to the dentist chair.
His last appointment was 40 minutes long and for me it was just super stressful. The dentist let him play with all the equipment and the chair and ask about 30,000 questions and in the end he didn't get anything done. He didn't like the feel of the gloves or the air or the water gun. So with this appointment I arranged for his grandparents to take him. He left the room after a few minutes but was persuaded to go back in. In the end the dentist managed to clean the tooth but X wouldn't let him put the playdough filling in. It was just too much for him.
When he came into the waiting room and saw me he was holding back tears . U could see what a trauma it had been for him.
I was super proud of him.
We have booked one more appointment in the hope that he can get the filling.
