The Kasbah, Rabat

A marvellously smooth ride on the high speed train brought us from Tangier to Rabat by 11.20. The stations are immaculately smart and clean. Maybe another time we could take this train to Kenitra and disembark there for Fes and Meknes. It's only just across the platform.

Les petits taxis are just outside the station. We started out exploring in the old Medina which struck me as a cross Tangier and Marrakech souks. Plenty of juice stops to take refreshment. I rather like lemon and ginger although Len's apple and citron impressed too.

Another taxi to the Kasbah on top of the hill overlooking the Atlantic, a warren of white and blue painted alleyways where we found the door pictured. Its owner was proud to show it off and and to rub the luck of the Hand of Fatima upon me.

We have retreated to one of the restaurants by the side of the River Boughreba (sic) to eat and to watch the rowing boats plying between Rabat and Sale struggling against the tide.

Due back on the train at 2050.
