of Benjamin Britten's STORM. It was played by the orchestra which did not even exist a month or so ago and that was astonishing!
BSFO - Britten Shostakovich Festival Orchestra was organised from the most talented and energetic young musicians from Russia and from Great Britain to do about a dozen concerts in our two countries. That was their first performance in Moscow.
The friendship between Britten and Shostakovich sustained during the nastiest periods of Cold War - what a brilliant idea for building the orchestra consisting from young British and Russian musicians on that foundation! Maybe the glass is still half full?...
