People on a Bridge

Friends Forever

This young lady and I have been friends since we were both nine. Pig tails, pimples, first loves, you name it, we've done it together. We have lost touch for a while, but reconnected a few years ago when it turned out that we are both in the States, now both in the South.

Kinga, her husband Jamie and her two kids stopped by for a night on their way from Asheville back to Houston. Kinga is an executive director of Ars Lyrica, a musical ensemble which "offers audiences a broad range of music from the 17th and 18th centuries, on period instruments and with careful attention to period style and context."

She is energetic, passionate, incredibly devoted to her family, and has a great sense of humor. Because we've been friends as long as we had, we communicate in half-words, smiles, eye rolls, and pepper all with selected profanities as needed, knowing the other won't deem us uncivilized for doing so. It was a real, real pleasure to see her and her people.

HD wasn't around, as he drove to Louisiana for a third funeral in 4 weeks. Sigh...
