Not So Subtle

I had a message saying I should check out the Guardian Cryptic Crossword from yesterday (Thursday 12th).  I used to be quite decent at cryptics and so I gave it a bash.  It wasn't that difficult and then I got the joke.

It's a very cleverly set crossword.

Read the letters running across the top line of the grid.  And then read the letters running across the bottom line of the grid.

Round of applause for the skill involved in setting that.

In work news, we managed to get something really tricky to run.  And now we have the weekend again.
