Blast from the past

A very busy day on Coniston Old Man. We did not realise that today coincided with a Guide Dogs Heroes event. Some were doing a triathlon but also teams of walkers were ascending the Old Man from Coniston village.

Although it was busy, being a big mountain with relatively broad paths there was space for everyone. Have climbed this mountain numerous times with Year six (ten/eleven year olds). Have tried various routes but this way through and past some of the higher level Coppermines is one of my favourites visiting Low Water and Goat’s Water. Quite a cool wind on top and the mist was clinging on to the top.

Three and a half hours later we were down and went in search of refreshments in Coniston. Tea and scones being the order of the day.

This is the view back to Low Water and beyond to Brim Fell and Raven Tor. Jet is lying fast asleep after his long walk and we are now planning tomorrow’s route.
