Lac d’Arpitettaz, Zinal

Today was a perfect walking day in the Alps. We walked steeply up to Roc de la Vache then headed towards Lac d’Arpitettaz (main photo) before heading back to Zinal. The views of the glaciers were spectacular with fabulous panoramic views all round. It took around 6.5hours with lots of stops to take photos and admire the scenery.

We visited this valley around 15 years ago and I’ll be interested to see our old photos when we return home tomorrow as I suspect the glacier in the extra photo has retreated a lot.

The extras show flowers going to seed but I’ve no idea what they were. we saw quite a few of them as we walked along. I’ve never seen a nothing like it before.
