Heilig Drei König - Three wise men/kings

Today (6th) is a bank holiday in catholic Bavaria so perhaps one or two weekend workers benefited this year.
It's also the day that throughout Germany, children dressed up as the 3 Kings, visit houses, collecting money for charity (this year for Tanzania) and usually getting chocolates/sweets for their efforts. They usually sing a song and then write in chalk "a blessing" above the entrance door:
20 C+M+B 13
The numerals for the year, the letters for Christus mansionem benedicat (May Christ bless this house). Many believe they stand for the 3 King's names -  Caspar, Melchior and Balthazar but apparently this is wrong.
Whatever the history, it's a nice tradition & we are very pleased that they make the extra effort to climb in a van & drive all the way out to our house.

Today had several good sides apart from the above, Heidi & Sepp popped by for a chat after a long break, Luna's "parents" called from Berlin. Just one bit of very sad news & we are praying it all goes as well as possible for a very special person who has been knocked off the rails. We send all our best & hope he stands up tall again, dusts himself down & returns to being the really nice guy he is at heart. He's always welcome here.
