Shrouded

I last took this view in Dec 2018 when the lake was frozen. Today there was a shroud of mist cloaking the scene. It was much calmer than the previous attempt, so shooting with a long lens was not a problem.

However, editing it later I was amazed by how much detail I could pull out if I wanted to. So the challenge was deciding how to show the mist, yet give some indication of the subject. I opted to resolve some areas more than others to give a sense of patchy mist.

I've seen great shots of mist hanging in a valley, or a foreground tree isolated in a wood, but this kind of mist was not that dense and only partially obscuring the distant shoreline. Tricky, I'm not sure I quite got it right.
