The Scale of Diablerets

A fantastic 1,200m walk up to the Pierredar Hut at 2,300m today with Francoise. I last went up to this remote hut 25 years ago! I love these huge sedimentary folds that make up Diablerets Massive, initially laid down in the tropical seas 150 millions of years ago then pushed up and folded over by the movement of tectonic plates and volcanic intrusions. The extra shows more of the layers of old coral on the north facing slopes.

Francoise noticed a very large bird over one of the ridges, another bearded vulture, but I had not taken my long lens today. It seems I need a rest before my next big adventure, so I can carry it!
