Kibble Palace, Glasgow

I was fortunate to have worked for one of the most gifted editors of the twentieth century, Arnold Kemp when he was Editor of the Glasgow Herald.

Here in Glasgow's famous Botanical gardens is a seat dedicated to him following his sudden death in 2002.

In the background is the Kibble Palace, an amazing glasshouse or "crystal palace" built originally by that Glasgow entrepreneur, John Kibble for his home on the edge of Loch Long.

He decided his unique piece of architecture should be appreciated by a wider public so she gifted it to the city of Glasgow.

Today it forms a focal point in the city's West End and is enjoyed by Glaswegians and visitors alike.
