Flame on

This blip is the result of a failed experiment. I was trying to capture the moment when I re-ignited a candle flame by setting fire to the smoke trail (it works, by the way, but it's even more of a pain to set up than using water droplets as little lenses). I might return to this idea at a later date when I have more patience, time and matches.

I hope that this failed experiment doesn't foreshadow more of the same next week! I am returning to work tomorrow after the Christmas holidays, and need to start planning some laboratory stuff. It remains to be seen if I manage to wake up before 10 a.m. tomorrow - barely managed to do that all holiday!
