Trying To Save The Other Trees.......

The girls and I woke up to a wonderful day outside!   It was 68 at 7:30 am.  We had a terrific walk this am for about an hour!   Everyone was outside with us, dong the same thing!
At 1 pm, we went out for another walk....  it was 83, the breeze was terrific, the sun wasn't baking us, it was overcast with clouds, but not dark.  The clouds were high and thin.  As we went to the Mail Center, we heard chain saws, so off I went to investigate for a Blip.
The crew was dropping a dead pine tree.  When I had a chance I asked why the tree was coming down.  I found out that there is a bad infestation of Pine Bores at the front gate.  5 trees have been taken down since spring, the remaining pines are sprayed to control the infestation.   There are 11 more pines that, so far, are doing well.  The crew thought the tree was weak already, from the bugs, and even though it had been sprayed twice this summer, it wasn't able to survive.   I was told that tomorrow, the remaining trees will be sprayed again for the fall.
It was sad to see another tree come down, but it was obviously dead when the trunk of the tree hit the ground.  All the bark fell off, the branches were dry and snapping.   But, it was also good to see that OTOW is taking a very proactive stance towards caring for the trees here and save the healthy ones.....
Another walk this evening is planned!  The weather is awesome!
