We were there.

A special day of celebration.

Today is the 70th anniversary of the passing of the Act which allowed for the setting up of National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Some hundreds of people climbed Arnside Knott to hear the Poet Laureate read the poem which he had written for the day. We all formed a giant heart shape on the upper slopes of the
Knott and video was taken looking down on the event. You should see the results in the papers and on tv.
The weather was 100% perfect for the occasion.
Simon had been invited to choose the location at which he would read his poem and we felt very thrilled that he had chosen the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

On this same day the Glover report was published which is advising Government on the future of National Parks and AONBs

A joyful occasion.
