Driftwood

Several years ago I found this in a boggy bit of ground behind the beach.  It was well hidden and very heavy but I staggered to the road and collected it in the car.  After pressure washing and drying it at work I took it home and set it up on a windowsill in the top floor foyer.  The building was well insulated and it was always warm (I never used central heating during the 6 years I lived there) and next morning I was astonished to find the carpet covered in little pink prawns.  Obviously these little beach dwellers had resisted the pressure washing but failed when it came to heat.  I have added the ironwood with air plants to give a sense of scale.
