Daddy, read to me please

It was a hectic evening earlier on, and i was pretty frazzled by the kids' demands. My husband CL showered Sophie, and volunteered to entertain her. She immediately said, "Daddy, read to me please."

That, i think, is her favourite thing in the world...to be read to. She has been enthralled by books ever since she was a young baby, and would spend up to 2 hours at a time just looking through a large picture book of nursery rhymes as soon as she was able to sit up on her own at about 6 months old. When she was about 8-9 months old, i was reading to her, and just as i finished reading the second last page of the book, she cried and frantically flipped to the front page of the book. So i started reading the book from the front page again, and when i got to the last few pages of the book, she cried again and repeated the flipping to the front of the book. This happened maybe 3 times and i realised that she didn't want me to finish reading!

In this photo, my dear husband CL is reading the 7th book Sophie brought to him. She kept bringing more books as she always does when we finish reading them. He read 8 books in all to her tonight. He was really tired and fell asleep for a few minutes after the 4th book, and then woke up and read some more. She waited patiently for him to wake up. Sure, he complained about the number of books he had to read, but i pointed out how happy she was, and he relented.
I love this man.
