Sour Grapes?

A bit of a shock tonight looking out of the pub window and seen by this house minus it complete ivy covering. We’ve watched over the years as the house deteriorated and the ivy covered the windows and gutters. We’ve seen the guy who lives there come and go and never quite understood why he’s let it get so bad.
But this evening we found out the story. He was getting divorced, very acrimoniously, and the property was part of the settlement, but he refused to move and instead let it go to ruin to spite his ex wife. Isn’t that sad?
It’s been cleared now as he’s going to live with his daughter, so we assume a for sale sign will be up shortly, although we’re trying to get a viewing before then as it could be a great doer upper.
