Day 268/19. Macaques on the Rock

We spent today somewhere I've always wanted to go and photograph. The Barbary Macaque monkey colony on the Rock of Gibraltar.
It did not disappoint, a fabulous day, fabulous views...and the remarkably tame monkeys.
Originally from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco, the Barbary macaque population in Gibraltar is the only wild monkey population on the European continent. Although most Barbary monkey populations in Africa are experiencing decline due to hunting and deforestation, the Gibraltar population is increasing.
Currently, some 300 animals in five troops occupy the Upper Rock area of Gibraltar. They freely wander around (or relax and watch us) as the tourists enjoy the views. Just don't show them you have food......
