Female Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs)

Nothing of interest really and no inspiration for blip.  So when desperate either look for flowers or watch the bird feeding station.  Having done a lot of flowers of late I watched the birds.

Female Chaffinches don't exactly jump out at you they are very quietly coloured and round our garden at least stay under cover a lot.  This one happened to perch for a few seconds in a visible position.

The species name coelebs is derived from the Latin for bachelor, blame Linneaus!  Female "Chaffies" in his native Sweden winter further south than the males and he was only seeing the males in his area.
