and in other news...

Well that was quite a day!  

Two lunchtime concerts of lovely student performances celebrating our international languages day, songs from Portugal, Spain, Balkans, France and Germany!  Then, at 13.58 the building started shaking.  Immediate whole school evacuation to our emergency assembly area where we all stayed for  just over an hour, the news confirming what we already knew - earthquake, measuring 5.7.  Fairly soon though all was declared safe throughout the city of Istanbul, and school closed early whereupon some of us went to Bizim Tepe for a recovery beer. Just on my second when this lovely bride and her groom arrived and saying hello to me,  I realised they are  school graduates of '06 and '07.  Celebrating at Bizim Tepe, their happy day made a very lovely closing to mine.
